- Statistical methods were used to group all thinned landscape units
(6541 cells) with similar data properties
(considering all variables except location) (642 groups)
- The mean, standard deviation, maximum and minimum values for
variables in each group were calculated and saved by cell location
- An efficient sampling method was used for all variables in each group
to produce representative input data sets
