Spatial Resolution:

• The spatial resolution (cell size) was 1 km on a side

Data Needs:

• landscape-unit data includes:
  • Seasonal precipitation
  • A digital elevation model (elevation, slope, facing direction)
  • A measure of soil water-holding capacity
  • California watersheds and USGS hydrologic units
  • Vegetation density
    • Existing conditions (new leaf-area index data map)
    • Post-treatment (apply thinning rules to existing conditions)
      • LAI = 2.0 for group selection, equivalent LAI = 1.7 for DFPZ
        ( LAI = 1.5 in the DFPZ, but not all of the cell is included)

Define the study:

• What’s the question?

• Model(s) to use?

• Spatial resolution?

• Data needs?
